About Us

Luke Iannelli is a lightweight rower and the founder of NextStroke, known for his competitive mindset and disciplined approach to training.

Early in his career, he was stuck at a 6:32 2k before jumping to a 6:19 with no change to his training plan. What changed was his preparation. By focusing on the small details, he realized he had been cheating his hard work by not maximizing performance outside the workout. That commitment paid off at La Salle, where he raced in the 1v ranked 15th in the nation, won three Head of the Charles medals, qualified and raced at Henley, earned a PAC-12 qualification, and helped raise the standard for his team. After years of trial and error refining his approach, Luke created NextStroke to pass on the systems and lessons that let rowers skip the learning curve and raise their own standard. As a smaller rower competing toe to toe with heavyweights, he coaches differently, helping athletes unlock potential and break through when they are on the edge of improvement. Luke created NextStroke to pass on the lessons, systems, and details so other rowers can shorten the learning curve and raise their own standard.

Joel Bevenour was a heavyweight rower for La Salle University and served as their captain for three years in a row.

From day one, he approached every training session with focus and commitment, constantly growing and improving at every opportunity. Joel absorbed the coaching and wisdom from his talented staff and quickly demonstrated to his teammates that he was going above and beyond. He stood out to his peers and was voted captain three times, almost unanimously, showing what the model athlete should do day in and day out. Even with the right mindset, preparation, and recovery, he struggled in certain training blocks. With small tweaks to his execution, he made remarkable progress, ultimately hitting a blazing 6:07 2k personal best. Despite personal health struggles in the winter of his senior year, he put in the work to make a return by the spring and was an integral part of the 1V and 2V boats in their development and success. He was part of the #15 ranked 1V boat in the nation for most of his sophomore to senior years, medaled at regattas such as the Head of the Charles, raced at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta, and was voted 2025 IRCA Comeback Athlete of the Year. He brings a unique coaching style focusing on adaptation and consistency. Joel knows what it means to persevere through adversity, cultivating strong motivation to improve no matter your current position.
